My 1st Driving Lesson

After getting my "L" License, I am looking forward to my on the road driving lessons. Today, my driving school called and asked me whether 2pm okay with me. Since my class ended at 10.30am, I confirmed ok but requested for 1pm.

At 1.05pm the instructor with his Kancil arrived and I got in. Here I go for my 1st driving lesson.

Its Merdeka day!! Me and my parents joined the Saujana UOB Merdeka Family Day Carnival yesterday @ the Saujana Golf and Country Club.

We were there at around 5.15pm to participate in some games and the dinner at 7.00pm

My classmates gave me a surprise birthday cake to celebrate my Birthday yesterday. Kit Wai's Birthday also fall on the same day and we therefore celebrated this meaningful and joyful day together.

HELP UNiversity College Open Day

Today is HELP University College Open Day, my parent brought me to check out this U and find out what courses they offer and the see their facilities.

Met up with Mr Michael who provide me very good advice and guidance. He advised me to concentrate on doing well in the SPM. Pursuing A Level will give a better options and if you scored well, you have a good chance to obtain scholarship.

The facilities are quire large and very well organised.

By 2010 or 2011, they will moved into this huge facility.

Segi College Charity Fiesta

Two months ago, I attended a free seminar @ Adam Khoo Learning Technologies on how to study for exam and how do our brains functions (Right and Left Brain).
It was an interesting 2 hours seminar which was very useful and informative. The seminar costs a few thousand ringgit.

I luv to eat Pan Mee since young. My favorite Pan Mee used to be the SS 19 Subang Jaya shop. But it has change since my father brought me to the Kung Fu Pan Mee @ Taman Sri Sentosa.

The restaurant serves the most delicious of Pan Mee that I had eaten before which is loaded with minced pork, sliced wood fungus and mushrooms, fried ikan bilis and sweet potato leaves.

You know what it is so good that I can ate two bowls starting with the dry version followed by the soup version.

LOL, I am such a great eater.

Last Saturday afternoon, my cousins from Penang came down to PJ to perform at the 2008 Chor Competition Finals held at First Baptist Church, Jalan Pantai, PJ @ 5.00pm. They were representing St. Paul Church, Penang.

I also go the chance to check out the Eye on Malacca @ Malacca River Pirate Park. It was drizzling and we just went in and have a look and not able take a ride on the Eye on Malacca.

The wheel is a much smaller version as compared to the Eye on Malaysia.

While in Malacca, I had the chance to visit the famous Jonker Street (Jalan Hang Jebat)twice, once at night and the other during daytime. At night, there is nothing much to see as most of shops are closed.

It is during the day that, there is a hive of activities and many people shopping and looking for foods.

Niu Ze Xui (牛车水)@ Ara Damansara

Last Saturday, Dad brought mum & I to this new shopping place called Niu Ze Xui (牛车水), Malaysia Largest Covered Boulevard which is very similar to Chinatown @ Petaling Street but bigger, modern, vibrant, organized and air conditioned or rather aircool.

While the concept is very nice, this place is still new and unknown to many to draw the crowds and it lack the activities also make the place rather quiet. Here are some pictures of the place.

The only outlet that is doing very well is Big Apple Donuts & Coffee.

We bought half a dozen. Great taste which is at par with J.Co.

You can see behind me this quick cut hair saloon and shops rather quite and practically no or few customers.

This evening, I went over to Sunway Pyramid arcade next to the cinema to play some arcade games against my dad's friend. I played the Initial D racing game as I begin to like racing games recently.

For the Lake Tahoe trip, we went on our own and we flew from Los Angeles to Reno. My dad rent a 4WD and drove to Lake Tahoe. We stayed there for 3-4days and this is such a beautiful resort with such a big lake with crystal clear water.

Vancouver Memories

In December 1998 when I was 7 years old, I followed my parents to USA for holidays and toured many cities along the west coast like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Reno, Lake Tahoe and flew to Vancouver, Canada. I cannot remembered how long was the trip and it was something like 2 weeks.

We stayed at my dad's friend house in Los Angeles and he droved us to Las Vegas and San Francisco. It was a very memorable trip and my first experience with winter and snowing.

We arrived Vancouver on the Christmas day and the city was snowing and very cold. We took an extended limousine from airport to hotel.

Berjaya Hills Memories

My younger days are always filled with fun and happiness as my parent took me to some local tourist resort such as Berjaya Hills (previously known as Bukit Tinggi Resort) for short breaks during school holidays.

Since Berjaya Hills is located just 40 minutes' drive from Kuala Lumpur and 10km off the East-West Karak Highway, Berjaya Hills covers 16,000 acres of rugged hills and mountains crowned with lush tropical rainforests. At 2,700 - 3,500 feet above sea level, the air is cool, fresh and rejuvenating. The perfect destination with a world of difference!

I like cool weather as the heat could be a big problem for me due to my sensitivity to heat. Some old photos to share.

Bintan Lagoon Memories

In October 2003, my parents took me to the island resort called Bintan Island. We drove to Singapore and took a ferry to to the island where we spent 3days/2nights there. It was a very memorable trip and I would love to go back there one day.

We stayed at Bintan Lagoon Resort which have lots of recreational activities and two golf courses.

Yesterday while I was shopping for some textbooks at this new bookstore at Semenyih, there was a Lion Dance by a skilled troupe. They did some special stunts on the metal stands.

Growing Up

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn't already know. I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder.

I turned around to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.

She said, "Hi, handsome. My name is Rose. I'm eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?"

I laughed and enthusiastically responded, "Of course you may!" and she gave me a giant squeeze.

"Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?" I asked.

She jokingly replied, "I'm here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids..."

"No seriously," I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

"I always dreamed of having a college education and now I'm getting one!" she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake.

We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this "time machine" as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students. She was living it up..

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I'll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium. As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor.

Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, "I'm sorry I'm so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I'll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know."

As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, "We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing.

There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success.

You have to laugh and find humor every day.

You've got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.

We have so many people walking around who are dead and don't even know it!

There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.

If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don't do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old. If I am eighty -seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.

Anybody can grow older. That doesn't take any talent or ability. The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change. Have no regrets.

The elderly usually don't have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do. The only people who fear death are those with regrets."

She concluded her speech by courageously singing "The Rose"

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives. At the year's end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago.

One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.

Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it's never too late to be all you can possibly be.

When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they'll really enjoy it!

These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.

REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY.

GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.

There are lotsa of fruits trees and plants around the compound. This one in Chinese called Lor Hon Kor.

Chinese New Year Lion Dance Performance @ LDC

On the 1st day, we went to Losang Dragpa Center (LDC) to watch the Lion Dance performance.

The Chinese Lion Dance goes back some one thousand years. The first record of the performance of an early form of the Lion Dance dates to the early Ch’in and Han Dynasties (Third Century B.C.)

The lions express joy and happiness. From the fourth day to the fifteenth of the New Year, lion dance groups would tour from village to village in traditional China.

Both lions and dragons figure in New Year’s Parades and other celebrations throughout the year. The Lion Dance also plays an important role in the consecration of temples and other building, at business openings, planting and harvest times, official celebrations, and religious rites

Chinese New Year Visit @ Tropicana

On the 1st day of CNY, I got the chance to visit a very beautiful house @ Tropicana with my parents and his sister's family. This got to be the biggest bungalow that I have ever visited and it surely looks like a palace from the outside. I dream to be able to own one one day.

The interior is also very well decorated and it is a 3 storeys huge bungalow.

On the second floor, there is a garden and reflexology track.

Great paintings everywhere.

Project Torque Closed Beta

Recently I started testing out a racing game after I found it searching the web and it is still under closed beta called Project Touque. Project Torque is a free multi player racing game released by aerigames.com. After playing it for 3 days, I am thrilled and really enjoyed the race. The Kedai Makanan Yut Kee Restaurant, Kuala Lumpur is a Hainanese restaurant, which serves good Chinese and quite spacious. The huge windows allow a lot of natural light and air into the restaurant premises. The décor is simple and casual. The tables have marble tops an adds to the beauty of the restaurant.

Once in awhile, my father will bring us there to have lunch there on Sunday.

1st Visit to The Pavillion

Another place that I visited during the Hari Raya Holidays is The Pavillion, the newest and high class shopping mall in KL. This place is really big with the most modern decor. When we were there, not all the shops have opened for business.

One shop that is doing crazy amount of business is JCo, the famous donut from Indonesia.
People are crazy enough to queue for at least 20-30mins to get hold of this donuts. Me is one of them who manged to get half dozen of it. Thumbs up, it is really nice.!!!

Last month during the Hari Raya Holidays, I had a outing with my parents, aunty and cousins to a famous grilled fish restaurant at Broga. This place so crowded during the holidays that we have to wait quite long for a table as well as the foods. For me, I find the foods not too much to my likings.

This is the grilled fish that everyone come here for. A little over-rated. :)

I came across this stories written by Jackie Stagner at True Whisper site. I like the moral of the story. Here is the story:

Sometimes occasionally goes by the rules but mostly does his own thing. He is more worried about being everyone's friend than doing his school work. He gets into trouble a lot but managed to charm his way through it. His parents have gone to school a lot to have parent teacher conferences.

Always is a boy who always goes by the book, never breaks the rules and is never in trouble. He always pleased his family and friends and never let them down. He is usually stressed out and gets headaches and stomach aches from stress.

Always became very ill one day and had to be rushed to the hospital. The doctors were baffled at what could be wrong with him. Many tests were run and in the end they were inconclusive. He was released and went home only to be stressed some more about missing school and possibly letting everyone down if he received a grade less than an A.

Now sometimes was doing poorly in school and he knew it. He decided that he would just do what he could to get by, he thought " Why should I stress out look what happened to Always."

Well Always was having the same thoughts " Why should I stress and make myself sick, sometimes gets by ok" and at that time he started missing school and just barely got passing grades.

Their parents decided to sit the boys down and talk to them and tell them that they just need to do their best and that is all that can be asked of them. They do not need to stress and get ill but also do not slack off and get failing grades.

Their parents just wanted them to know that whatever they did they would be proud of them as long as they did their best.

Finally, Sometimes spoke up and said " You mean even if we don't do well all the time that you will still love us and be proud of us ?? " The parents answered the question, "yes we will love you , ALWAYS !!!!"

The moral is,
do your best at whatever you do that is all that can be expected of you and you will turn out just fine your parents will love you no matter what.

We rode on 2 types of boats. The twin motor speed boat and the normal ferry type boat.

This is quite a funny story that I would like to share which I got it from my friend.

Little Johny's school is having show and tell, so the teacher starts a guess Whats Behind My Back game. She goes to her desk and picks up a item. She says, OK class, what am I holding, its RED, ROUND, and SHINNY. Little Johny replies I know teacher its an apple, The teacher replies, no little Johny, But I like the way you think. So the teacher goes back to her desk picks up another item. She says, OK class, what am I holding now, its YELLOW, and SOFT. Little Johny replies I know teacher,its a banana. The teacher replies, no little Johny, its a tennis ball. But I like the way you think. At this point little Johny is furious. OK teacher, this one's for you, he stuck his hand in his pocket and said OK what am I Holding, Its ROUND, HARD, and has a HEAD. The teacher says, Little Johny, go to the office right now, you are in trouble. Little Johny replies, for what teacher, its just a quarter, but I like the way you think.

Last Sunday, I visited this new Hassan's Food Gallery which opened for business recently at SS 15 for breakfast with my father. Since it is quite new, the place is pretty empty when we reached there at 8.45am.

This place is really neat and clean. The waiters are mainly consist of foreign workers who do not understand English quite well.

I ordered my favorite plain Roti Canai. It comes in a very tiny plate.

The roti canai is not too bad but I prefer Pelita.

Flying Kite and Durian Fiesta

Today, I followed my parents to this fly kite and durian fiesta at Saujana Golf and Country Club.

I dont eat durian but I ate some other foods and it is my 1st time flying kite. I bought a Kite which costs RM25.00. I was not successful in flying the kite initially. With the help of Kite Seller and parents, I managed to fly it. I really enjoy the fun and watching others flying their kites too.

Sony Launched Mini PSP

Sony is launching the mini PSP, I may consider getting one. LOOKING slim and trim, here's the new mini PSP handheld from SONY.

Due out in September, it is said to be 33 per cent lighter and 19 per cent smaller than the previous model.

And in a bid to raise the sales of UMD movie discs - which it has to be said have not been fantastic - the machine now has a video out port so you can hook it up to the TV and watch the films on the big screen.

The new PSP can temporarily store game data to make the load times quicker and you're now able to charge it via USB from your PC or PS3.

There's three colours now to choose from too, silver, white or the traditional black.

Unfortunately the price hasn't been set yet but I reckon it'll sell for a bit more than the current £129.99 price for the larger unit.

With no other new games hardware this year, it's sure to be a hot buy for Christmas and on the present list of most teenagers.

Finally we decided to order the Set No. 3 (Rm21.70) and add-on - Garlic Bread, Soup and Pepsi (RM3.50). Our favourite choice of buscuit is Hawaiian Chicken Pizza. Yummmy.

It’s been quite a while since I sat down and picked up a drama to watch. So, I decided to go ahead and pick one that stars none other than Toda Erika, the cutie herself that portrayed Misa in the Death Note movies and Matsuda Shota, of Hana Yori Dango fame. Not only that but this drama is based on the manga of the same name. Is it good? Damn good? Awesome? Continue reading on and you’ll soon find out.

[Summary]

Kanzaki Nao is an honest girl. Perhaps a bit too honest as she constantly falls for pranks and scams and only barely is able to avoid them sometimes. One day when she is returning home, she receives a package along with a letter telling her that she’s been chosen to participate in the ‘LIAR GAME TOURNAMENT’. She opens the box to find approximately 100 million yen and a video tape inside. As she plays it a strange masked man appears on screen, she realizes that she has mistakenly accepted the invitation by opening the box and is told that her acceptance cannot be canceled. The game is basically like this: you must steal your opponent’s money within 30 days and at the end you can receive a maximum amount of 100 million yen. However, if you lose any amount of money you must pay it all back even if you have to take out a loan and the maximum amount you can lose is: 100 million yen. After hearing this explanation, Nao panics and closes all of her windows and curtains.

The next day she goes to the police and asks for help but is refused. Later that day, she receives a letter informing her that her opponent is her old middle school teacher, Mr. Fujisawa. She quickly heads over to his home in seek of help but is eventually tricked by him and ends up handing over her money. After being informed about the current status of the game, that is that she’s now -100 million yen, she then realizes that she had been deceived by her teacher after overhearing a phone conversation he was on. Now in a mess, she seeks out help from the police once more but they can’t do a thing for her. However, before she gives up on winning she is told about a genius swindler who is about to be released from jail in the next day. His name: Akiyama Shin’ichi (played by Matsuda Shota from Hana Yori Dango fame). She goes to meet him but is instantly turned down. After following him for a bit he agrees to listen to her story and tells her to wait in a market. Night comes quickly before Nao realizes that she’s been deceived yet again. However, the next morning Shin’ichi returns to see if she’s still there and finally agrees to hear her story.

After hearing her story he decides to help her. They go to Fujisawa’s home where, after some words are exchange between Nao and Fujisawa, Shin’ichi manages to get him to admit that he was in for the money all along and deceived Nao. After leaving, Shin’ichi tells Nao that he will help her get her share of the money back from Fujisawa but that it’ll cost her 50 million yen. She agrees to the deal and they go to work immediately. After psyching Fujisawa out for a nubmer of days, Shin’ichi explains to Nao that they’ve succeeded in finding out where he’s hiding the money: inside of his home. Shin’ichi and Nao then head over to Fujisawa’s home where they manage to narrow down the location of the money in a single room. Fujisawa reveals that the money is in a safe but that doesn’t phase Shin’ichi one bit but rather he laughs and says that he can easily steal the 200 million yen out of the safe.

[Thoughts]

Damn. I enjoyed this first episode more than I thought I would! Erika and Shota are so good together that I’m already used to the idea of them being a team. Although I haven’t read the manga (I’ve only seen one volume scanlated) I must say that I’m loving the concept of this series. It has an almost Death Note-like feel to it. I can’t help but wonder how the game will evolve as the series moves along. Will it be the same tricking and stealing away the other person’s money? Or will new twists be added to each game that Nao and Shin’ichi finds themselves in?

Also I have to say that I love the music that was used in the episode. I do wonder if it was specifically made for the series or if it is derived from somewhere else….

I loved how the episode ended with Shota being so badass. Now I can’t wait to see how he’s going to steal the 200 million yen out of that safe Fujisawa has in his house. Either way, the deadline is coming quickly and next episode has to be nothing short of intense. Just how will Shin’ichi manage to save Nao from her 100 million yen debt? I have no freaking idea but I can’t wait to see what tricks he has up his sleeves.
